Take our picture by the water

Take our picture by the water
The smiling couple that's so so sweet
A backdrop of the soothing calm water
Belies the troubles of you and me

Look at us with carefree smiles
You in my arms we're forever wild
Strangers smile at this couple in love
Strangers don't know what we're made of
It's a pretty picture, nothing more
Pose for the public, shut the door
These are our secrets, we're not you and me
Two strangers alone, it's not what they see

If you knew how much
I would have killed for this
Would you at least listen
As I scream across our abyss
We're not the perfect couple in the photo
No need for you to tell me, I know
Only perfect in a stranger's eyes
With a photo of our never never prize

Take our picture by the water
A memory of you and me
I'll find and lose you by the water
As your waves crash over me.
