Ambulances

I used to love the sound of sirens
A crisis and someone to be saved
Flashing lights against the midnight
Sorry I lied I knew I was foolish
But I told you I was brave

You said you would save me
You would drive the ambulance
Lights and sirens, shot of
adrenaline to the heart, but
I was never given a chance

I was dead when we met
My heart would beat but it lied
You found me at my gravesite
Ready to cross my arms
Wouldn't let me go inside

You live inside your ambulance
Save the victims, care for them all
An angel of mercy and compassion
Put me back on life support then
pull the plug, it's your call

Did you cure me to kill me
Or so I could fill you up inside
Your empty heart behind a beautiful
Smile that almost made me
Believe you when you cried

These days ambulances make me sad
Said you'd save me but you lied
Save your friends, save the strangers
I know what you promised but
I don't believe you even tried.
