crocs in the water

the city lights shined
so brightly that night
that we set on our way
and foolishly me
i was was following you
seemed the right thing to do
you pushed us on
when i wanted to stop
went left when the sign said right
you gave me no answer when i
asked our destination
trust me, was all you were sayin
come to a bridge i want to go back
i can't, you've made sure of that

now there's crocs in the water
 they're flashing their teeth
 and the alligators are laughing
trying to get us in reach
 i shouldn't be smiling
 i'm losing my head
 someone's been eating
 my dry crumbs of bread
 now we're lost, so lost
 press on!

this trip is a killer waiting for you
it's friend it knows me too
through valley and hill you lead somewhere
don't stop for the bugs in your hair
they're biting and soon nesting
and whisper while you're resting
to trick you've lost your mind
but i'll loan you mine
if we can just keep on going
soon the snow will be blowing
it's cold and we're lonely
i think you don't know me
and now we've lost our way
a silent trust me is all you'll say

now there's crocs in the water
 they're flashing their teeth
 and the alligators are laughing
trying to get us in reach
 i shouldn't be smiling
 i'm losing my head
 someone's been eating
 my dry crumbs of bread
 now we're lost, so lost
 press on!

i've followed you on
this path for too long
wanted to believe you knew the way
will you hear when i say
i've enjoyed sharing time
i'll find the home that's mine
with a tear in your eye
and white in your hair
i'll shake your hand
and we'll part at this sand
beneath the apple tree
i'll travel alone so be proud of me
i've learned some things from you
and leaving is one of the things we do

now there's crocs in the water
 they're flashing their teeth
 and the alligators are laughing
trying to get me in reach
 i'll laugh and i'm smiling
 i'm losing my head
 someone's been eating
 my dry crumbs of bread
now i'm not lost, so lost
 so long!
